The seven event National GromSearch series presented by Snickers ensures all surfing states are represented and allows grommets all over the country to have the chance to surf in familiar territory.

Keeping with GromSearch tradition the series has made a few changes in location to keep things fresh and allow grommets in different regions to surf an event closer to home. Changes in location for this year’s series include event number 2 moving to NSW’s mid North Coast at Coffs Harbour and the WA event shifting to Mandurah.

“The Rip Curl GromSearch is all about allowing groms in all parts of the country easy access to our events. So we mix up the locations every couple of years to let groms in different areas host the events” said Rip Curl event manager Mark Flanagan.

After a successful introduction the GromSearch Ratings system for 14’s and 16’s division will continue in season 2008/09 allowing participants to check their position throughout the series and see how they rate on a National scale. With last year’s ratings winners in the 16’s division receiving a wildcard and an all expenses paid trip to Bells
for the National Final, competition will be tight at the top end of the list.

“Sandwiched between the seaside towns of Rockingham and Mandurah is a stretch of coastline that's home to some really consistent surf that will allow competitors the chance to score good waves at the end of the October holidays. From the Northern beach breaks in Secret Harbour to the reef breaks in the South, Mandurah area has it covered”, said Surfing WA Coordinator Justin Majeks.

“The move to Coffs Harbour ensures all those juniors in Northern NSW have got a GromSearch closer to home, at a time we can expect good waves. With such a big and expanding surfing population in the mid and far North Coast region we’re stoked to have the GromSearch in Coffs.” commented Surfing NSW Coordinator Peter Hunt.
