A fisherman straining from the weight of a huge fish that he was fighting in the back of the boat got the shock of his life when he finally went to pull it up to the surface.

"What do we got?" the guide from Captain Bucko’s Fishing charters in New Zealand asks. "Lift him up."

The fisherman lifted what was remaining of the huge fish he had been battling, prompting the guide to let out an "oh noooo," fully realizing that a shark had eaten the catch—or most of the catch.

What happened next took the breath away from all the fishermen in the boat.

Watch what unfolds; we warn you there's a bit of salty language afterward, which is perfectly understandable, as you will see:

The reaction after the shark takes the remaining portion of the catch is priceless, even with the expletives mixed in.

"I thought he was coming in [the boat]," the fisherman says.

"I think we'll go in and watch this video," the guide says. "Change of endings. That was pretty awesome."

The incident occurred in the Bay of Islands in New Zealand and the shark was identified as a small great white, the first the guide from Captain Bucko’s Fishing charters had ever seen in the Bay of Islands. So there were surprises on a couple levels.
