These Norwegian shorts mean never having a cold butt again

When we spend time outside there are typically only two body parts that touch outdoor surfaces: Our feet, and our butts. While our feet are protected by insulated, padded, waterproof shoes, our behinds are kind of an afterthought, only given a layer or two of fabric to work with.

Enter Zipshorts Padded, a new innovation from Northern Playground, a group of young Norwegian designers, that could make cold, wet butts a thing of the past.

The product was inspired by the outdoor antics of the team’s designers, a slew of fisherman, kayakers, skiers and sailors who were fed up with living with damp butts.

The design is actually pretty genius: The shorts themselves resemble the form-fitting, stretchy lining of bike shorts. There’s a removable Italian Pontetorto fleece lining (made from recycled plastic bottles) that you can remove with full-length zippers.

You can also remove the shorts completely without taking your pants or boots off using the zipper system.

Tested by a slew of pro athletes, the Zipshorts Padded is designed to give you a soft and dry place to sit and provide and insulated layer against the snow and ice while repelling water.

Necessary? Probably not. Do we want a pair? Obviously.
