Overindulge during the holidays? Here’s how to get back on track

The holiday season is almost over for 2016, and we all know what that means — we’re a little more tired, a little less fit and more than ready for the new year to begin.

If you’re like us, and you indulge over the holidays, you may be feeling a bit sluggish, or out of whack as we approach 2017. If this sounds familiar, check out our tips for hitting the “reset” button, just in time for the new year.

Go Green

There’s nothing like the feeling of getting all of your necessary vitamins and minerals from eating right.

However, after the holidays have passed and you don’t think you could eat another bite, sometimes drinking your greens is the only option. We recommend throwing together a green smoothie once a day for a week after the holidays; you’ll start to see pep in your step in no time.

Take a walk

Weather permitting, lace up your walking shoes and simply get outside.

After all the time spent indoors over the last week or so, eating, drinking and sleeping to your heart’s content, you’re probably feeling a bit sluggish.

There’s nothing better to cure your lethargy, and jump-start your fitness regime, than getting outside and breathing some fresh air.

Recycle

Go through that giant trash bag of wrapping paper that you haphazardly filled on Christmas morning, and see if there are any recyclable materials in there. Chances are, there are quite a few.

Not only will you be de-cluttering your home, you’ll also be doing the Earth a favor.

Get rid of your (unrealistic) standards

Throw your standards away with your gift wrap – you won’t need them anymore.

Well, that’s not entirely true. What we’re really trying to say here is, cut yourself some slack. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither were those six-pack abs we know you’ve been envying.

Take your fitness journey one day at a time, and set reasonable goals to accomplish.
