We’re continuing on with our quest for essential items for summer, and there are few who understand what you need to enjoy summer better than the swimwear designers featured in Surfing magazine’s new Swimsuit Issue, so we decided to ask them to give us a list of their five essential items for summer. Up next is Acacia designers and cofounders Naomi Newirth and Lyndie Irons. (For the last designer interview, click here.)

Designers: Naomi Newirth and Lyndie Irons
Line they design for: Acacia Swimwear
Location: Hawaii

Growing up in Maui positioned Newirth as an expert in all things swim. And while she crafted her own bikinis in high school, it wasn’t until she spent a summer in Bali that Newirth developed an interest in launching a swimwear line and felt encouraged to go to design school. Finding a partner in her good friend Lyndie Irons, a swimsuit model and discerning global traveler, the girls developed a common vision and transformed it into Acacia, a flirty bikini line inspired by a combination of the perfect low-cut Italian bikini and the always sexy Brazilian fit.

Here are Naomi and Lyndie’s five essential summer items:

Favorite beach-going side kicks: Axel Irons, Lyndie’s son, and Bronxy, a beloved French Bulldog, are never left behind.

Acacia swimwear, of course: A favorite style is being modeled by none other than the bikini mavens themselves, below.

Acacia silkies: These and cut-off jeans clutter the girls closets (Positano pictured below).

An assortment of locally grown fruits: Lilikois (passion fruit), mangosteens, and watermelon are a daily habit.
