The Sesame Street characters we grew up with just got some serious street cred. On April 28 and 29, over 40 artists transformed them at The Known Gallery art show put on by Neff Headwear and The Seventh Letter artist collective.
Some of the art pieces depicted Ernie with a Mike Tyson face tattoo and Grover chilling in a lowrider. Many were scary and some were sweet but the consistent thread among each piece was the eerie nostalgia. The event was filled with Hollywood celebrities and action sports stars such as Ryan Phillipe and Mena Suvari, and Louie Vito. However, the event was not just a place to see and be seen as the proceeds will go to the City of Hope Pediatrics Department.
