National Teams for the 2010 Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations Have Been Announced

As the month of September officially begins, the countdown tothe 2010 Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations from Thunder Valley Motocross Parkis heating up. In just a few weeks, the best motocross riders from across theglobe will converge on Lakewood, Colo., for the biggest, most excitingprofessional motocross event in the world.=

In a recent announcement, Youthstream revealed the lineupsfor all 32 countries that will compete just outside of Denver on the finalweekend of September. The three-rider teams are littered with the biggest namesin the sport, including riders from both the U.S.-based Lucas Oil MotocrossChampionship and the European FIM World Motocross Championship.

Team USA leads the way after capturing its fifth straightwin at the prestigious event last season in Italy. Rockstar/MakitaSuzuki's Ryan Dungey returns as Team Captain for the U.S. in the MX1class, just one year after leading the team to victory. Joining the newlycrowned 450 Class Champion of the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship are a pair ofhis American motocross counterparts that will each be making their respectivedebut at the Olympics of Motocross.

Honda Red Bull Racing's Andrew Short is a veteran ofthe sport and coincidentally enough, a native of the state of Colorado. ThunderValley serves as the eight-year pro's home track and there isn't abetter place in the world for Short to make his first appearance as acompetitor in the MX3 class. Rounding out the impressive Team USA lineup isGEICO Powersports Honda's Trey Canard. The third-year rider hadexperienced a breakout season in 2010 and has risen to become the top 250ccrider in the U.S., making him the obvious choice for the MX2 class.

It was the defending class champion Ryan Villopoto that made it look easy and ran away with the win at the opening round of the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross Series at Anaheim Stadium in Southern California.
