First Look: 2010 Kawasaki Lineup

By: Chris Worden

It's that time of year again, new bike season. It seems like it's only been a few short months since we hit the fertile soil of Muddy Creek Raceway in Tennessee to ride/review the 2009 KX450F. First out of the gate for this year's new bike horse race is Kawasaki with 3 revised dirt scooters for every range of rider.

One of the first thing you may notice about this year's offering is a lack of KX65 and KX100. We've been re-assured that there is still enough back-stock from the 2009 line that those looking for models in the 65cc/100cc range will still be able to push a shiny new green machine off of the showroom floor. Upon further investigation it seems that Kawi opted out of these lines because the bikes hadn't been developed much in the year after their release, and all releasing a 2010 edition would do would be increase what you're paying for ' bold new graphics.' We think this is a fair compromise, but just hope to see a re-release of these models the following racing season.

Onto what you CAN take home. The 2010 KX85 features many of the race winning features of the past, click the image below for more information on the KX85.

Next in line is a slightly tweaked, but race proven KX250F. A few of the improvements you'll see for this year include:

  • New piston and bridged box bottom
  • Crank web design that increases longevity of parts and smooth power delivery
  • Chassis improvements for greater handling and feel

Last, and certainly not least is the big thumpa'. The KX450F, the bike we raved about last year is back and has a few revisions we are anxious to put to the test. Here's what you need to know:

  • New piston and bridged box bottom
  • New clutch with improved friction material
  • D-shaped aluminum swingarm

Roost Report: Hangtown to Freestone

Stewart showed up at Hangtown looking calm, cool, collected, kicked some butt and took names

The biggest story leading up to the season opener of the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship circled around one James Stewart. Everyone asked, "Will he kick some butt, will he choke, was his problem with SX all in his head or has he landed on his head too many times, will the Suzuki be his saving grace, if he was so fond of the Suzuki starting last year, why did he ride for another team if he says he does not do it for the money," and a slew of other questions. Many of those questions may..
