The Slovakian dirt bike rider was 186 miles from the finish line for the day, but he didn’t let a little lightning stop him. He proceeded to continue racing and finished fifteenth on the stage.
He eventually was taken to a hospital in Jujuy, where he was checked and cleared for competition today.

“Thank God he didn’t put his feet on the ground, because it would have been like a ground wire,” a member from his team told Motorsport.com.
Jakes is currently in eleventh place, and it’s going to take a lot more than some pesky lightning to stop him from going after a Dakar Rally title.
