HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel has released new video footage of the failed attempt. This teaser shows Corliss's impact with the boulder.
After receiving several request for interviews, Corliss decided to post his account of the accident on Facebook, writing, "The answer is very simple. I was flying too close and messed up. I was going for a black balloon that was
basically laying on the rocks and was going to try and kick it with my foot. In order to do this I had to fly low and flat between boulders. My left foot clipped a boulder [and] that dragged me into a flat ledge that I took at the waist at full speed." Corliss seems to have a firm grasp of the high-risk associated with BASE-jumping, stating, "I took the risk and paid the price for pushing way too hard. I take full responsibility for my actions and am just happy I still have legs to do rehab on. This is not my first time getting hurt and it will not be my last. I push it, always have and always will. One day I will die and I just hope that when I do, it will be doing something I truly love."
Stay tuned. More footage from Corliss's GoPro cameras during the crash is due for release.
UPDATE: Jeb Corliss recently released a statement on his Facebook, "to All those asking about seeing my footage from the impact it will be airing on HBO Real Sports on the 21st of Feb. If you are interested in seeing the 12 ngles all in HD and most of them about 5ft from impact I suggest you watch. By the way I was wearing 3 cameras that all survived the impact."
