It's billed as the world's largest rope swing and, while that might be debatable, few will argue after watching the accompanying video that a contraption set up recently atop the striking Corona Arch in Moab, Utah, is one truly enormous and harrowing swing.


Videographer Devin Graham and six of his friends constructed the temporary apparatus at the popular hiking and climbing destination, using safety ropes and multiple rope anchors, carabiners and other devices to guard against accidents. But all those safety measures did little to alleviate fear, judging from all the screaming.

In a separate video describing this project, one of the intrepid swingers stated: "We have set up a 150-foot pendulum rope swing, we free fall 130 feet, the rope catches, swings you 10 feet above the ground, shoots you back up probably another 100 feet, and you scream nonstop for at least 20 seconds."

Presumably, even the most hair-raising amusement park rides would seem tame by comparison.
