Jeff Plassman was about 15 minutes into a 50-mile mountain bike race Sunday when out of nowhere came a swift-moving deer that, in Jeff’s words, “decided to run at me full steam and jump off the front of my bike, sending me crashing to the ground,” as the deer ambled off no worse for wear. Fortunately for us, Plassman caught the collision on his bike-mounted camera and posted the video on YouTube. We’re not convinced the accompanying music is deer-crashed-into-me kind of music, but you can always play it on mute. Watch:
The incident occurred during the Monster Cross and Mountain Bike race in Pocahontas State Park in Virginia. We understand that Plassman ended up getting back onto his bike and finished the 3 1/2-hour race.
“I’m really lucky, I guess,” Plassman wrote on his blog. “It’s a good thing the deer didn’t hit me in the body full on.
“I figure that deer was doing a good 30 mph. I didn’t even have time to react. All I saw was fur, sky, ground. You can’t make this stuff up!”
