If you’re craving a true adventure movie to hold you over until blockbuster season (yep, still a few months until we see Will Smith again), look no further than “Kon-Tiki,” set to debut in American theaters April 26. It’s an adaption of a book by the same name and details the story of Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl’s attempt to prove that early settlers from South America had once populated Polynesia by crossing the Pacific using balsa wood rafts by actually making the 4,300-nautical-mile voyage himself. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film earlier this year, the flick is set to open stateside in a few weeks, and from the looks of this trailer, it’s one of those sweeping, gut-wrenching adventure dramas that sticks with you for days (and has you considering your own act of valor). Pass the popcorn—we’re not missing this one.
