Amazing video shows killer whale giving birth at SeaWorld

Kasatka, a 37-year-old killer whale that lives at SeaWorld in Mission Bay, California, gave birth to a 300-pound baby whale in the Show Pool at Shamu Stadium on Thursday after an 18-month pregnancy and one-hour labor. SeaWorld officials told the San Diego Union-Tribune that the baby killer whale, the sixth successful birth at the park in nearly 50 years, appeared healthy. Here’s some amazing video of the birth taking place:

It was the fourth calf Kasatka has produced, incidentally. And, as the U-T reported, it means a new cast member for the popular killer whale show at SeaWorld.
