Kasatka, a 37-year-old killer whale that lives at SeaWorld in Mission Bay, California, gave birth to a 300-pound baby whale in the Show Pool at Shamu Stadium on Thursday after an 18-month pregnancy and one-hour labor. SeaWorld officials told the San Diego Union-Tribune that the baby killer whale, the sixth successful birth at the park in nearly 50 years, appeared healthy. It was the fourth calf Kasatka has produced, incidentally. And, as the U-T reported, it means a new cast member for the popular killer whale show at SeaWorld.
