Momenti difficili indeed! The diver in the accompanying video seems to be having a very difficult time steering clear of a very large and curious tiger shark, during a recent expedition to Tiger Beach at the Bahamas. The footage was uploaded Thursday by Italy’s Giovanni Rossi Filangieri, who included the phrase Momenti difficili, or difficult times, in the title. Filangieri said the yelling is from the dive leader trying to position the divers in a safer line, because some weren’t following his instructions. Clearly, there are some tense moments here, including one at the 1:15 mark when the shark bumps the camera lens.

Tiger Beach is famous for close encounters with these apex predators, which are drawn in with fish parts, or chum. There have been other tense moments, and some operators have been criticized for hand-feeding tiger sharks and for placing their clients in jeopardy. The scene portrayed above is reminiscent of a near-miss last spring. Below is that footage and pay special attention at the 40-second mark.
