Sea turtle swimming easily again after receiving prosthetic flippers

Even members of the Animal Kingdom sometimes need prosthetics to get along. Such is the case of Yu, a 25-year-old female loggerhead turtle who had lost her front flippers, possibly to a shark attack. Staff at the Suma Aqualife Park in Kobe, Japan, went through 26 different designs before settling on some rubber limbs attached to a soft vest that allows her to swim easily. The BBC has the heartwarming story of Yu and her prosthetic flippers:

By the looks of things, Yu is enjoying her celebrity life a bit better nowadays since her swimming has definitely improved.

Yu was caught in a fishing net in 2008 and she was missing her front flippers. As a result, Yu could only swim with 60 percent efficiency.

Staff at the aquarium finally found a design of prosthetic flippers that fit the loggerhead turtle comfortably.

Today, Yu is in the process of living happily ever after.
