See the best of Russia’s viral meteor videos

If you live on planet Earth and are connected to others via Internet, television, or word of mouth, you have no doubt heard that a 10-ton meteor ripped through the atmosphere above a big city in Siberia on Friday morning local time. Apparently the meteor wreaked havoc, generating a loud sonic book, shattering windows, damaging buildings, and injuring as many as 1,000 (although few were seriously injured), according to reports.

While experts say that meteors are a part of living in our universe and that they enter our atmosphere frequently, the explosion likely caused such a stir because it happened over a city of about 1 million, leading to lots of amateur videos and photos. Here is a collection of some of the best of them that have been posted on YouTube–and as an added bonus, you get a sampling of Russian radio.
