Fitting the origins of earth’s history into a 90-second video is an impossible challenge, but a YouTube user named Melodysheep has done an admirable job of trying with a production titled, “Our Story In 1 Minute.” It’s described as “a tapestry of footage tracing the cosmic and biological origins of our species,” and the varied footage–pulled largely from documentaries–is nicely matched with the music.

It was inspired by another highly popular and slightly longer video titled, “Our Story In 2 Minutes,” uploaded in May by a user named Drivinman687, who explained that this was a high-school project. Presumably, it earned a high mark as it, too, is a dynamic production, which went viral on the Internet, garnering more than 3.6 million views. That version is posted below and, as viewers might attest, having an extra 30 seconds allows for so much more compelling content. However, both offer a fun and exciting travel through time, and both are worth a watch. Hopefully, viewers will agree.
