The international wind surf race Red Bull Prince of Islands, held at Bodrum Ortakent V.I.P Windsurf Center on August 15 and 16, ended after two days full of excitement. Masters Turkish Champion Özfer Urlap from Izmir came first among 63 competitors in total of both genders from 7 different countries, while PWA Women World Champion Sarah Quito Offringa ranked first in the women’s category. Batu Akyol came second among Men and British Jo Wright came second among Women.Red Bull Prince of Islands, held at Bodrum Ortakent, is one of the few geographical wind surf races organized in Turkey. As distinct from other races, the race was held on a natural course, rather than a course arranged according to competitors. This course only consisted of the “Çelebi Island” indicated in the middle of the sea. Moreover, as opposed to the Downwind slalom race, Orsa navigation requirement was one of the most challenging rules of the race.The race had very suitable wind conditions between 15 and 17 knots. A beglua whale calf born Friday night at the Georgia Aquarium has died, despite receiving 24-hour nurturing from animal care experts at the Atlanta facility.
