He is currently in a medically induced coma after a 5 hour surgery to treat a subdural hematoma on the brain. For those of you who dont already have your phd, this means bleeding in the brain, caused by serious head trauma. As of now, doctors are waiting for the swelling in his brain to subside before they can assess the damage and hopefully move him back to a hospital in the US. His wife Lauren, and several friends, including Brian Deegan, flew to Costa Rica to be by his side today. An emergency fund to help defer the costs of Lusk's medical care has already been established and is set up to take donations immediately. Visit athleterecoveryfund.com and click on the ' make a donation' button. So far, x-rays on his neck and spine have been negative. He under-rotated an Indian Air Backflip causing him to slam into the dirt head frist. The video of the crash is below. Not for the faint of heart. Channels: Moto < previous 4 of 10 next > |

Don't kow if you've heard, but Jeremy passed away this morning around 2:30 a.m. local time. Looks like he already was neurologically dead (his brain was dead). His wife and some family were with him when he died. We'll miss you, bro!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Lusk family. Jeremy will truly be missed and one of the sports ELITE. I personally think the Costa Rico video needs to be removed out of respect for Jeremy and his family.

It is so sad that something like this had to happen to someone so young. I just had gotten into racing a few years back and had just come to know who a few of the racers were. He was one who I remembered because of his expertise in the sport. He will be missed. My heart goes out to his family and my prayers will be with them

My deepest respect to you and your family on your loss. As a father I cant imagine losing a child let alone being there to witness this tragedy. Time eases the pain, but the wound never heals.

As a mom of 2 motocrossers, my heart goes out to his family. He was an amazing rider and died doing what he loved. For all of you putting your ignorant remarks here, keep it to yourself. Yes this is a dangerous sport, and being a mom sometimes I wish my kids wouldn't want to do it too, but if you could see the joy on their faces after they have just done so well in a race then you wouldn't make those comments. These injuries can be caused to anyone of us just by getting out of bed in the morning, so don't criticize someone for having the drive for doing something they loved so much. All my best to his wife and family.

Jeremy Lusk knew the dangers of his sport more than anybody. Thereby, making all comments from Unicycle and kind moot. He lived his life the way he wanted and, looks like he had a real good time doing it. Some people sit in safety and comfort in front of the computer. Others like Jeremy go out and live it to the fullest. With gusto! May he rest in peace and his family find comfort in knowing at least, how so many care.

Wow, some of you are just sick. Back in the 70's and 80's my then BF/husband raced. I was and am amazed at how far it has come, how much more talent the kids have now compared to then, the things they can do. The fact this great talent lost his life is utterly saddening and devastating. He did not commit suicide, this was his job. He was not an idiot, he had great talent, accidents happen. One positive is he went doing what was the most fun for him. May his family and friends be granted peace soon.

What a horrible tragedy. I am sorry for the grief and pain this young man's family is going through. I am repulsed that his accident is being broadcasted on youtube. It makes me sad as well to see that there are people who are willing to risk their life for such a dangerous activity. What a senseless waste of a human life. My heart grieves with his family.
