New York/New Jersey - Some may instantly label this the Animal Bikes scene, but it's still more than that. Though NY/NJ is pretty much the home of Animal, it's always been a hustling bustling city so it was natural to have a big riding scene there. It's only natural some of the best street riders in the world came from that scene. Cue Bob Scerbo, Edwin Delarosa, Nigel Sylvester, Mike Brennan, etc. 2. Los Angeles - Another obvious one, as the big city theme continues. Thing is you won't see as many pro riders FROM LA, but you will see several that moved to LA. E-man and Boy of Cardinal/Primo are stand out riders in the area. As well as underrated riders Larry Alvarado, Eric Cuiper, and Pat Wang. Also, we got spots. We got spots and you've probably seen all of them in a web video or two. 3. Pennsylvania - Regardless of the Philadelphia riding scene with street and all that, PA is best known for its amazing, famous trails. Most of those trails photos in a forest tucked in between trails are from PA, that north east area. If you have a doubt on this scene, I got two words: Chris Doyle. 4. Greenville, NC - I know some think this should be number one but this is where it lies. Greenville is an obvious riding scene, kinda random right? Dave Mirra and Ryan Nyquist moved to Greenville and really hyped the scene and riders followed. I'm not sure whether both of them are still there or not, but I know they left a big footprint in that area. I still think it is so random. 5. Las Vegas - I think most responsible for this location is TJ Lavin. I'm not sure who was in LV first, Carey Hart or TJ, but action sports became big in Las Vegas for obvious reasons. It's a wild town! TJ Lavin moved in and made a SICK backyard track and other dirt jumpers followed suit. I believe Cory Nastazio spent a lot of time in Las Vegas and most recent to come out of LV is BMX rider/Las Vegas bachelor Ricardo Laguna. Long story... 6. Utah - All these locations seem to have something to do with pros moving in. I believe Tim FUZZY Hall was the first to post up a flag in Utah, but I definitely wouldn't say he was the first riding there. Most notable to come out of Utah is dirt jump style master Mike Aitken. Utah has a pretty big dirt jumping scene and hosts a Dew Tour event in Salt Lake City annually. Mike Aitken won that event once. That was beyond epic. 7. Oregon (NW) - This scene got bigger with Canadian riders coming down to ride like Rich Hirsch, Dave Osato, Jason Enns, etc. Rich Hirsch started Lotek shoe cmopany and blew up some local riders like Justin Inman and Mike Hoder. The northwest scene has a big street and dirt influence because of the weather. There are green, woodsy areas to build dirt jumps and the rain naturally provides workable dirt. When trails season isn't on though it's street most of the time. 8. San Francisco (NorCal) - In San Francisco you have a huge riding scene consisting of a lot of Lotek guys. Also if you go more inland you have a good riding scene in San Jose supported by local rider Ryan Nyquist, who lives there now I believe (that's right!). San Francisco is noted for having many a street jam with the First Rule crew and has some of the most famous spots in California for sure. 9. San Diego - San Diego is, in my opinion, one of the biggest action sports areas in existence. Everything goes down there. Surfing, skateboarding, BMX. Coming out of San Diego and moving in to San Diego is a myriad of pro riders. Skateparks like Mission Valley YMCA have produced many good riders. Notable crews from SD are Give D! and whatever Dennis Enarson fits into. Dennis is too good. 10. Florida - Florida is another state that has good riding scenes just due to the amount of people. This place is like nowhere else, however. I would say the most hardcore party-ers in BMX are Floridians. And they hold that title high with pride. I believe companies like Subrosa and Shadow are deeply rooted in Florida and the BANNED crew as well... Many good riders out of this area but look up Colt Fake on youtube. Be impressed. Honorable mention goes to Arizona. Home to many a good concrete skatepark. Channels: BMX What's Up Wednesday?Yes, Weezer's new album cover (the back) consists of all the band members on Sunday/Odyssey bicycles. Yes, DJ Greyboy had a part in this situation. Yes, we are all stoked. Peep pic below... ![]() If there is one thing that is never good enough for me on a bicycle, it's the chain. I have been in an on-going fight with the chain for years. I'm going to try the Shadow Interlock but if that doesn't work... NEXT UP! S&M's new chain... If you need to see Stay Fit now, you better live in New Jersey, New York, Utah, or Oregon.
