Hello ALL!
I am SkaterDad from the Rayumond Skate Park in Washington State.
I have been maintaining our communities small wood framed skatelight & plastic park for most of the last 5 yrs. since it was built. My son Matt asked me 5 yrs ago why we can't have our own skate in our town.
I said what makes you think you can't? I incouraged him, he formed a small group of kids who all wanted it, they went to city, city sent them to HUGS an organization that believed in the kids of our little town.
HUGS helped make it happen, along with many voulunteers that poured the slab, I could not get time off work, to see it done. I came back after my 2hr commute that night and we had it, it was awsome!!
The BMX bikers from The large city of Redmond claim our park is the best for bikes in the state even though it is only 80' x 100'.
I just made a week long tour of western Washington skate parks, drove over 900 miles and met hundereds of kids and adults alike. My first park to visit was to PortAngles. wA. They told me to my suprize that Tony Hawk helped get it done, it was his mom's home town.
Anyway, I have been on a mission nfor three weeks now to get the kids a roof for the winter they need desperatly, lots of neysayers and pesimistic people have tried to kill my momentome but I am persistance.
