"This is what I love about Kelly Slater...He's made a career out of doing what he loves but he doesn't put himself on top of the world just because he's the best there is and possibly one of the best overall athletes around. He has fun and just does his best, and even though he is the best, he's not arrogant about it. He has a great attitude and everyone should learn from him! Keep grinding hard Slater!"

"I think everyone likes winning more than losing. The important thing is to enjoy what you're doing....take it seriously but not so serious that you're walking around with a stick up your a$$."

  • Torah Bright hid wedding plans and the seriousness of her injuries pre-Olympics

Torah Bright, Australia's gold-medal winning halfpipe star, was under strict orders from her coach to avoid making wedding plans in the lead up to the Olympics. Bright's coach, who happens to be her brother Ben, demanded she postpone all planning until after the Games. She and her fianc Jake are to be married in June.

But keeping a girl from making wedding plans -- Olympics or not -- is like trying to stop the earth from spinning.

Bright called a bridal store in Salt Lake City, Utah, during a bad weather day, and they agreed to make a clandestine, on the fly appointment. "The first dress I tried on -- that was the dress," she laughs. "So one day--done!"

Giving her brother the slip was about the only thing that's come easy for Torah of late. Friday she revealed that her pre-Olympic injuries were much more serious than she and her coaches let on. "It's been a rough time," she says. "A head injury is serious no matter how small it is. That's something I'm not really willing to mess with." After suffering back-to-back concussions just before the X Games, she admitted Friday there was never a chance of her attempting the dangerous double cork during the Olympics competition.

The gold medal whirlwind ride she's on now isn't going to make the rest of her wedding plans any easier. Opportunities will open up quickly for the Australian beauty. And she says she's receptive to all ideas. "I'm open to anything. I always have been."

The most surprising thing we learned about Torah Bright? Well, believe it or not, this snowboarding phenomenon actually hates cold weather. "I'm definately a beach girl at heart," she says. "I love the ocean." Like any good Australian, she likes to surf. But right now she can't wait to go someplace with her future husband where she can work on her tan.
