SEVLIEVO (BULGARIA), 4 April 2009 - Again two exciting
qualifying moto's decided the start gate positions for tomorrow's Grand
Prix with Ken de Dycker taking the MX1 pole and Marvin Musquin the MX2.
De Dycker had to battle it out with team mate Ramon and Desalle
before wrapping up the qualifying heat win as Musquin dominated the MX2
heat after a stunning pre-qualifying.
MX1
KTM Silver Action's Barragan took a storming start and led the pack
into the first corner followed by a hungry Desalle of LS Motors Honda.
The Spaniard tried to pull away but crashed and handed the lead to
Desalle.
Towards the end of the heat the Teka Suzuki WMX1 duo Ramon-De Dycker
came close to the Belgian. Ramon was the first to move past but an
attempt to fight back saw Desalle run wide in a corner and lose more
positions.
De Dycker found himself in second and attacked Ramon to take the
eventual win from his team mate. Barragan, who also exploited Desalle's
mistake, ended in third while Desalle was an eventual fourth.
Max Nagl rounded off the top five ahead of Josh Coppins, who crashed
throughout the heat. Cairoli took a hard fought seventh by passing last
year's Sevlievo GP winner Philippaerts at the very last lap.
Championship leader Tanel Leok ended in ninth ahead of Strijbos, who
put in some strong laps in the early stages.
Last year's poleman Sebastien Pourcel struggled again with his left shoulder and ended in 17th place.

MX2
NGS' Marvin Musquin was the dominator of a thrilling MX2 qualifying
heat in Sevlievo where the French had shown an impressive speed already
in the pre qualifying through an impressive lap time-two seconds faster
than second placed Aubin.
Once Musquin got rid of early leader Rui Goncalves of Red Bull KTM
Factory Racing he pulled away with the lead reaching an advantage of 12
seconds. Eventually he slowed down and secured his maiden qualifying
heat win.
Third placed Goncalves let CLS' Steven Frossard by but the
Portuguese rode solid and took a much better result than last weekend,
when his qualifying was hampered by a crash at the first corner.
Frossard put in a strong moto by passing both Goncalves and French
countryman Aubin of Yamaha Monster Energy Ricci Motocross Team, who
ended in fourth ahead of other French Xavier Boog.
Championship leader Gautier Paulin of Bud Racing recovered to sixth after starting from the 16th place.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Simpson crashed at mid race distance and dropped off the top four to finish in eighth.
Faenza's qualifying heat winner Tonus ended 19th after a crash at the first lap as KTM fellow rider Van Horebeek crashed.
