• Superb Cairoli Ends Turkish Experience With GP Win and Red Plate

ISTANBUL (TURKEY), 12 April 2009 - The first ever Turkish GP
kept up the level of excitement in this year's FIM Motocross World
Championship courtesy of an action packed event. New Championship
leader Tony Cairoli took a clean sweep in the MX1 class after a great
second heat battle with defending Champion Philippaerts. Zach Osborne
won the MX2 class ahead of current Championship leader Paulin.

Starting from pole Antonio Cairoli of Yamaha Red
Bull De Carli was the protagonist of Turkey's first appearance of the
FIM Motocross World Championship which he now leads. Cairoli took
victory in heat one, dominating from the start to the flag, and
repeated the performance in the final moto after a breathtaking duel
with Yamaha Monster Energy Motocross' David Philippaerts.

The latter took his first season's podium with third overall. In heat
one the Italian ended fourth but he came close to winning the final
heat where he set up a dogfight with Cairoli. The duo swapped places
several times until Cairoli opened up a safe gap towards the end of the
    heat.

Philippaerts then had to defend from Teka Suzuki World MX1's Ramon who
tried to move past in heat two after witnessing the
Cairoli-Philippaerts wrestle. Eventually Ramon was third, which
combined with a solid second from heat one and resulted in a podium
    finish.

Other Teka Suzuki World MX1 man Ken de Dycker was fourth in the overall
classification just ahead of Belgian countryman Strijbos of Martin
Honda MX. After twisting his knee in Faenza Strijbos showed good form
today taking third in moto one, though a fall in the second moto saw
him lose a provisional second place.

Gautier Paulin of Bud Racing Kawasaki PSM left Turkey with the red
plate but who snatched the overall win was American Zach Osborne. The
Utag-Yamaha.com's rider, who debuted in the FIM Motocross World
Championship only last year at Lommel, eventually took his maiden GP
    win ahead of Paulin.

Osborne was third in the first heat, where Paulin and SRS' Vongsana
battled it out for victory, but he gave his best in the final heat
taking his second career moto win.

Paulin aimed for another win in heat two but a bad start made it a
tough moto for the Frenchman who had to recover until the seventh place.

Despite a difficult qualifying NGS' Musquin kept up his podium streak
with third overall. Musquin recovered to fifth in the first heat but a
better start in the final moto gave him a chance of battling for first.
After moving past Osborne, Musquin tried to pull away but he was
eventually caught and overtaken by the American. A strong Frossard
tried hard to snatch second from Musquin with several attacks towards
the end of heat two but he was an eventual third. In the overall the
CLS man was ninth due to a dnf in heat one.

Vongsana clinched his and the SRS team's best GP result with fourth
overall. After the second place in heat one, Vongsana took a bad start
and finished twelfth in moto two.

3C Racing Yamaha's Monni was under the spotlight when he took the
holeshot in heat two but he ended the weekend with a fifth overall.
