darcy_19 sweetheart it is not that cps steps in when a sailboat trip goes bad, it is that they step in when they are pressured to do so. As you said, abby's brother made it safely therefore it was left alone, but because of what has happened there are already many many people that are asking where CPS was and what there are going to do about this. Mainly so that it does not happen again.
No matter how mature or how much of a professional a minor is, there are still a minor. Still their parents' responsibility. As I said, I am ALL for parents supporting their children's dreams, but there are more responsible ways to do so. Yes there are alot of risky things we do daily and even allow our children to do, but help in much closer than two days away. The chances of survival are much much higher.

Just thought I would ask,,, How many 16 year old (excluding mountain and sky diving) , firefighters, police officers, rescue workers do you know of?
