The event format had the riders pulled by one of two winches, hitting a 42-foot A-frame followed by an off-the-wave throw down. The guys were competing for a Coors Light mini fridge (1st place) and a Vestal watch (2nd place) and placement was decided amongst them.
The large crowd had plenty of entertainment options. They witnessed a combination of big tricks and big crashes on the water and a large festival area complete with two Coors Light beer gardens and a series of vendor tents. People were busy watching the rail/wave jam, dancing to the DJ's, playing beach volleyball and having a great time!
The Coors Light Wake Wave would like to thank all of their sponsors: Coors Light, West Edmonton Mall, Spy, Billabong, Swimwear Etc., Edmonton Sport and Social Club, Hudson's, O'Brien, Lost and Jet Pilot. Channels: More < previous 13 of 18 next > |

On Sunday, May 31st the city of Edmonton was home to the site of something special; the Coors Light Wake Wave presented by West Edmonton Mall's World Water Park. The world's largest indoor wakeboard festival hosted in North America's largest mall. If we're talking volume of water, the Coors Light Wake Wave was approximately ten times larger than the Amsterdam Winch Jam that went off at the Toronto Boat show.
The event featured eight riders, seven of which were from the Coors Light wakeboard team riding in the water park's wave pool; Bradey Price, Brad Buskas, Carter Moore, Chris Canuel, Fraser Snell, Kyle Dupris, Leighton Ramsey (Coors wakeboard team) and Evan Stait.
The rail jam portion ended somewhat prematurely after the slider sustained too much damage. Just when things were getting good, they got different. After the rail was pulled out of the wave pool, it was time for staff to turn on the waves. At this point, the riders were winched into waves where they exploded off of them much like they would a wake.
When the revelry was all said and done, Bradey Price took 1st and Brad Buskas was close on his heels with 2nd place.
