Bethany lived 14 wonderful years with a rare heart anomaly. She had such a love for life and such a unique way about herself. She cared so much for people and made everyone's life brighter with her spirit. Bethany had a passion for her two nieces and became very interested in infertility. She felt compassion for couples who couldn't have children and decided to become a Reproductive Endocrinologist when she got older. Bethany didn't get to see that dream come true, but she would have wanted to see it come true for someone else. This year will be our First Annual Poker Run in memory of Bethany. The weather was perfect and the roosts were twice as high. In the morning qualifier, there was a hard crash right in front of me, so close I could have touched both riders. One of them ended up breaking off on of his roost handguards and a track offical gave it to me, SWEET!! Jessica Patterson won her moto with Ashley coming in 2nd. Those girls were haulin ass around that track making their own lines and tearin it up. In the lites, Villapoto was kickin ass and lappin riders left and right. Brett Metcalfe came in 2nd place overall for the day. Then once again it was time for Bubba to check out and left the pack in the dust. Cody Cooper came in 2nd place overall and 3rd place overall was Timmy Ferry. Now onto The Junkyard Dog, John Dowd. He came in 5th place in the 2nd moto, hauling ass around the sandbox. He had no problem keeping up with the youngin's, even lappin a few. They had a huge interview with him after the race which was awesome!! Another year at The Sandbox has come and gone, many idiots stealing banners from the track after the race were stopped by the police, I mean come on, it does say right on MX 338's website in big RED letters, anyone taking banners will be prosecuted!! I guess they didn't read the huge RED font!! LOL Well race fans, its off to the shower for me, god I need one more tonight than I did last night. I got clumps of sand and rocks in my hair and the sand seemed to make its way down my back again and back into places I wont mention...LOL Check out the race on the Speed channel, I'll be on there, we were right in front of the camera guy. Also check out the Racer X pre show, right after the interview with #58, look to the left of the screen, for a second you'll see me with my daughter and son cheering on Bubba right before his interview!! Take care everyone!! DOWDY RULES!!!! #16 Saturday at Southwick MX 338Well race fans, today was awesome! The boys were out qualifying, carving their lines into the sands of Southwick. Bubba was fast as usual posting a lap time of 1:57, Metcalfe was looking good and fast too. Villapoto was fastest in the Lites posting his time of 2:03. Now of course my Junkyard Dog John Dowd was there, he's been racing in his sandbox for 21 years and still able to keep up to them youngin's. He was down with the spectators checking out the track and other riders, checking out the Women's Professional Motocross race. I had the chance to catch a few words with Dowdy who told me he qualified 16th with a chuckle saying it matched his national number, nothing but class from John as always and never too busy to stop and say hi to friends or fans. The race day ended with a Pit Bike Pro National which was funny to see the big guys on little bikes trying their best to get up one of the hills just in front of the main grandstands. #156 was hauling ass and took 1st and also cleared the entire top of that jump, amazing! Jessica Patterson came in 1st place for the women today and #67 (sorry forgot her name, still have racing fuel fumes in my head) came in 2nd, she did great considering she is completely deaf, way to go girl!!! Well MX fans, this girl is off to shower to wash the sands of Southwick off even from places I won't mention...LOL. Gates open @ 7am so we gotta get up early just to park in a timely fashion. Lane choice qualifiers start @ 9:30. If you go have a great time, I know you will!! GO DOWDY!!! #16 The Night Before MX 338Well, one more night to go before I hit the Sandbox for yet another National Race. Right now just packing the cooler with food & snacks ( wish it was beer or margaritas but they don't allow that) and bottled water of course. The weather forcast promises temps in the mid to upper 80's, ideal racing weather. Gates open tomorrow morning at 10am but you still have to get there like 3 hours before just to park, Southwick isn't very organized when it comes to parking that many race fans. I don't know who came up with the plan of trying to get 4 lanes of cars down into 1 lane to all park in the same field, tempers flare up from time to time simply from the excitement of getting to the track. Yesterday, I saw many tractor trailers pulling into my town, The Kicker truck as well as The AMA truck, I also saw rider #338 and his trailer which only made the wait for the weekend even worse, just wanting to get there and see all my favs racing especially Dowdy, who has since retired but does come back every year to please his hometown crowd here at the MX 338 as well as Unadilla. Well MX fans if you are lucky enough to attend it will be a great moto, if not don't miss it live on the web. Listening to it on the web isnt half as good I know but you'll still hear all of the action. Welcome to the Sands of SouthwickWell motocross fans its time to head to the sands of Southwick, MA as riders prepare themselves for the sandbox. I'll be cheering on my favorite rider The Junkyard Dog who is retired but always come back to his home track to wow fans and race the younger crowd. No matter how old he is, John is an awesome racer and an awesome guy. I went to the track yesterday and they have made a few changes to it and this racing weekend promises to be one hell of a weekend for motocross. The weather is better this year than in years past and I saw the Kicker truck as well as the AMA truck pulling in yesterday. I can't wait to feel the grit of sand in my teeth and the smell of racing fuel!! If you can make it out to Southwick, you'll have a great time!! |
