Everthing you said is great and I do agree with most of it... except for the whole history has it that teenagers are not capable of making decisions that are necessarilly good for them... OK so like what?? According to history, there are many people uncapable of this, even adults. So point really means nothing. Do you have any idea how long it takes? Or what the oceans are like? Does that really even matter?
