This, of course, makes life difficult for sponsors of mountain biking events who want to see riders like Paul Basagoitia, Brandon Semenuk and Wayne Goss get some well-deserved spotlight. So in order to remedy this matter for their "Stumps, Clump and Jump Tour" the guys at Red Bull took the unprecedented step of dragging a few mountains down to the docks of Frisco Bay on board a 290-foot barge. The small mountains of dirt were sculpted into huge jumps. But the real caper was what came next. By moving the giant barge straight into McCovey Cove, the famous landing site of towering home runs at AT&T Park, the boys on board found a captive audience in the stands at AT&T Park. Spectators in the cheap seats at last weekend's Giants games enjoyed an entirely unexpected show just over the right field wall as the biker boys took to the air in perfect view. ![]() Their stunt worked, too. Basagoitia and friends were the only Bay Area athletes featured on ESPN's "Plays of the Day." And there's more love coming from their little three-hour-tour. The whole thing was being shot for a movie called Dust and Bones, which that's due out in October. Channels: Bike < previous 88 of 122 next > |
