"Born in Hawaii and ends up a snow boarder...I think she's on the wrong board."
Graphic artist and creator of the OBEY Giant clothing line, Shepard Fairey gathered his team and took off to Paris to paint a mural on the side of a 14-story building. The mural is part of a local community project effort called Street Art 13, which aims to help rejuvenate the neighborhood with the help of well-known artists.
Rather than assemble his usual paste-ups, Fairey decided to paint the wall instead. Perched on movable platforms, Fairey and his team used red, black, and white paint to create a close-perspective portrait of a woman and his signature flower art for the piece titled "Rise Above Rebel."
Fairey recounted the process of his latest art installation, stating, "It's the second largest wall I have ever painted on but it's the tallest wall."
