Surfed U.S. East Coast and Carribean westerly to South Africa, 22 Countries. I have many favorite spots, but size does matter, prefer 5' to 10' clean lefts. Largest wave about 20' at Waimea Bay in 75. First big wave, 15'/16' Monster Hole, FL in 72 next to Sabastian Inlet. Took only 3 waves at Pipeline ever, and dinged board at Rocky Point the same day, in 76. V-Land and Haleiwa rights rock at 8' to 10'. Southshore rocks at 5' to 7', especially Alamo left, Little Haleiwa and Bowls. North Japan, Winter of 78 was coldest water ever Surfed, but super glassy 5' right off the point were super. Got lucky in South Africa at 5' to 6' glassy swells summer (Northern Hemishere summer) of 80. Always great days in San Diego at the Cliffs. I call it "Surfing the Kelp Glass". Not so good, but surfed anyway in Perth (Northern Hemishere summer)in 80. In the Phillipines, South China Sea near Cubi Point in 77 caught some waves at shoulder and head high. Guam at the Jetty would break hollow lefts about 10 times a year, 77 through 79, caught glassy swells at 5' to 12', swells coming up from New Zealand way.
