Just a comment on the a**hole who you featured noodling a tarpon off the dock at Robbie's Marina in the Keys. Those fish are trained "pets" and are hand fed by bus-loads and car-loads of tourists each day. Tarpon at Robbies frequently engulf hands of the feeders, but they just slide off - and it's fun to watch. There's no skill or bravery or brain needed to grab one of the 100's of trained tarpon hanging around the dock waiting to get fed. There's certainly no need to grab a tarpon with both hands on the gills and haul in onto the dock unless you're a testosterone-driven idiot. That type of damage to gills can kill a fish, and killing a tarpon (without a $50 permit) can result in a big fine. The fool who did this appeared to get escorted off the dock by Robbie's personnel, and probably got booed all the way out of the Keys for being a classless lout.

    Hey Pete,

I noticed you seem to really exagerate when you write about something. Why? Can't you just tell the truth as it actually is? Some things you write about are just NOT TRUE. You must of been a good story teller as a child. No wonder Yahoo publishes your stuff.

Hiya Pete, I enjoy your blog and would like to tell you about a giant sturgeon caught in the late 1800s on the Plumas River, Cal. It was so big the angler had to hook up his horse to pull it out of the water. No scales were handy but he figured it to weigh 1200 lbs, more than the horse!
I read about it in the paper so it must be true! Enjoy life and thanks for the insights,

    Hi Pete,

Just wanted to comment about your Manatee blog; For someone that is not a 'Floridian' and doesn't live here, your description of Manatees and how we feel about them was spot on. I've read other blogs and articles from people and they never quite captured how lovable Manatees are and what an extraordinary experience it is to see one or have contact with one in their natural habitat. It's very memorable, I'll never forget my "belly-rub" experiences with Manatees, astounding because THEY come up to you too. By the way, I'm just assuming, based on your profile, that you are from Cali...

Anyway, I'm just sayin' :-) Nice blog..
