So I have recently got bit by the skater bug. lol Here is why...my five year old daughter wants a skate board for her birthday. Which her birthday isn't until October and she has really been asking me for one over & over. A friend of mine told me that she was too young to learn how to skate board & I told my friend "You don't know her like I do".

I was a wanna be skater when I was younger...fell down a lot but I would dust myself off and keep trying anyway. Since then I have had all these life altering things going on and lost interest in skate boarding all together until (and this is going to sound lame) I saw naked skateboarder chicks on this guys MySpace page and was like: "oh yeah, that's cool...not!)" LOL Then it got me to thinking about a movie I always wanted to watch but never did...Lords of Dogtown.

As we all know Heath Ledger was in it & like a typical girl I wanted to see the movie because he was in it. I know, shame on me. But I couldn't help it. So I recently sent my big brother to the store to buy it for me. My big brother being DUH older than me...asked me if I even knew what the moive was about. I said no... and he groaned and handed me a dvd to watch. It was a documentary on the Z Boys...and it was a real eye opener. Some things I never knew about skateboarding or even how it became so popular. I have cousins (boys of course) who are skaters or Emo whatever. They love to bring their boards over to their grandmother's house out in the country and make their ramps and do as many tricks as they can before it gets dark. Now and days we have places to go for skaters called "Skate Parks".

It really opened my eyes to the wonderful world of skateboarding. I hope to get on a board again and try to do some moves some day...lol I am sure my kids will love that. My five year old wants a skateboard and I am going to get it for her. Girls can skate board too.
