  • Atomic Jigsaw on a Stick

Well I've got my credentials for Surf Expo and have checked out the ramp. I think I'm the first to get the scoop on the name of the contest, it's Volcom's "Atomic Jigsaw on a stick" no kidding!
So I had to get some footage of the ramp before it was done so I walked over to my hotel and grabbed my video camera and went back. When I got back I found out that the ramp was positioned a little sideway's, it's (supposed to open up to the Volcom booth at one end) it was the forklifts lined up piggy back style that clued me in. Anyway, day one, found out the official name for the contest and video taped a bunch of forklifts trying topush the whole ramp 6'... Check the video "Atomic Ramp Move" maybe you'll get a laugh, certainly you will know what the ramp looks like.
I hope my video camera holds out! I have a GL1 and a GL2, I brought theGL2 and it's flaking out. I was going to bring both and maybe get 2 angles, but I didn't bring the GL1 and so I don't have a back up. Back to Canon with the GL2 after this weekend, maybe some new heads are in order.

Blogging again so soon... So I'm here in Orlando for the Volcom Mini Ramp Jam again. It happens 2
times a year, though this is the first September one that I've been to. The Volcom Acid Drop whichincorporated the Volcom peace stone (slightly over vert and heavily escalated obstacle), and theVolcom Reptilian Ramp Rumble. These contests always have some theme and the main charactersinvolved wear whatever crazy looking clothing Volcom comes up with for the event. I like getting the contest shirt, it's usually a good one. Blahblah blah, so I thought since I was covering this It would be a good idea to post something from the previous Volcom/Spotlight productions incarnationsof their contest. So check out Austen Seaholm killing it at the Reptilian Ramp Rumble. Also, check the pictures of Rune Glifberg and Tim Johnson, you can see the Peace Stone. Team Pain should incorporate that again, it looked good!

  • Standing in a chow line, good times

Wow, a blog. So I'm in Florida to video the Volcom Mini Ramp contest at Surf Expo. Hmmm, the usually have a pro and am contest. I guess they are mixing it up for several reasons. One, they don't have to put out Pro money 2 times a year, though nice for the Am's is that this contest they make out like pro's. And two, the Dew tour Salt Lake City stop is this weekend as well. Eh, they change the contest every time anyway. One contest the pro's were on Saturday the next the pro's were on Friday. If you don't know, the guys at Skatepark of Tampa put this on with Volcom (Remy). If they can incorporate a party into skateboarding they will get involved (atleast that's what my observations tell me. I've been to 2 other's of these contests and the skating is very good (it's a mini ramp of course). Oh yeah, best trick contest Am's & Pro's.
Anyway, I thought I would try a blog. I don't feel any different. Hmmm, maybe I'll try another one later.
And as for the thumbnail of Nyjah, that was at the Maloof Money Cup, he's got some rad dreads...
