In the past I been apprehensive to change in deck technology. Hell, I
never would ride slicks or the inner lock expedition 1 boards. I
loved my solid 7 ply maple deck. That was till Birdhouse gave me a few black 6 boards to try out. not only do they make it in my shape which
is rare to find by the way. 31 3 and a half quarters long by 7.75" wide
with a long nice wheel base but the damn thing helps me kill flip
tricks and the non beveled edge helps me catch tricks and land that I
should have slammed on. This board is no gimmick it is the real deal. I
caught up with Per Welinder.



Who came up with he light bulb and or the idea for the black 6 boards?

At some point will all birdhouse boards be black 6?

No we would like to have a few options available for our customers.



I have met many people who are
pessimistic when it comes to new deck manufacturing ideas boneite
power beam etc, discarding them as "gimmicks" was there a fear in the
nucleus stage of this project that it might be hated? and how did you
guys prove to the public that it was for real and not just a marketing
gimmick?

I think it is cool that companies come out with different looking and
different feeling decks, there is so many things that can be done
whether it is a new graphical application, a innovative material or
both.



Who came up with the non beveled edge
concept, it really has helped me pull my flip trick trick and When I
skate traditional board it takes me forever to get used to having to
kick harder and use more energy to bust a standard kick flip or heel
flip?

This is one of the features that needs getting used to, some people
love it some people don't like it at all, but the people that like it
seem to REALLY like it.



Will Birdhouse ever release a Limited
addition Per Welinder black 6 Freestyle board? maybe with rails? or
is that a message board rumor?

Don't think so.

For Nate Sherwood

Me (trevor ward) and some of my friends: (Thomas,Ryan,Braden,Jerimiah) we're on the fourth plain bus going back to downtown vancouver. On the bus some older dude (in his 20's) was giving us shit for our pants or something and totally calling us out to fight. (this guy was drunk off his ass) so we get into town and we got off the bus and the guy gets off behind us we're walking up past the 7th street transite center going to the first independent bank i think it is, and the guy is yelling shit behind us saying he wants his ones and he wants to fight and shit, as me and my friends are trying to lose this guy in the streets some guy out of no where throws him out into the road telling him to get lost and the bar was the other way. Told him "leave those mother fuckers alone" and stuff. then the drunk dude walks away down the road back to the transite center. the guy who came out of no where starts to approch us so we're walking away he's yelling "HEY!" he finally got up to us and me and my buds we're like what the fuck you want man, what're you doing we dont got a problem with you -- he cuts us off and was like no dudes i got your back i was ready to fight that drunk guy if he tried to touch you, i was on the bus and got off when you guys got off to make sure that dead beat didn't touch you guys. so we're all like oh yeah! thanks man thats rad dude, yadda yadda. Then he's like lets find that dude and my friends we're all hyped like yeah man you should beat his ass, and the guy was down to fight that drunk dude! so we're walking downtown streets trying to find the drunk guy, we're all like maybe he went into the bar so we went to bar after bar and the guy walked in trying to find him... took a shot then walked out "nah guys not in there" after like 20mins we thought eh it's pointless we're not gunna find him.. but this dude would not give up he wanted the drunk dude to apologize and shit, so we walked around for a bit longer (and this was all like 10 something at night) the guy was like "allright you guys i'll be in this bar and if you see him come get me" so we went back to the bank
