• Malcolm Stewart Dominates Mini O's on a 2-Stroke

The Mini O's Amateur National Olympics were held this past week at Gatorback MX Park in Florida. It looked like Malcolm Stewart is getting tired of being outdone by his perfect season brother, James. Malcolm struggled in the Supercross motos at the beginning of the week, but was undefeated in the Motocross events. Probably the most ironic part of Stewarts victories was that each was done on a KX 250. Notice I left out the F? That's because Malcolm decided to race the 250b stock and the 250b mod on a 2-stroke 250. Some may consider this unfair in a class filled with 250F's, but Stewart can answer all oncoming critics with his domination in the 450 class on his 250 2-stroke, also. Malcolm raced 4 classes (2 motos a class) this weekend and obtained a total of 8 moto wins.

This is great news and living proof that your old 2-stroke can measure up to any 4-stoke. Malcolm's team consists of family and sponsors. Both of which are proven to be successful, with James Stewart. The decision to win on a 2-stoke was more than just a shot in the dark. It was experience.

  • RYAN BEAT ROCKS GENOA SX, J-LAW OUT

The last round of the FIM UEM Supercross series in Genoa, Italy was awesome.
American, Ryan Beat nailed the SX1 qualifier 1 for the win, beating out Italy's Dami Stefano and Beats' Yamaha Magic teammate and the 2008 AMA WSX champion Jason Lawrence. The Main Event was supposed to be the big showdown between Jason Lawrence and Martin Racing's Ben Coisy. Lawrence went down during the first lap, in the second corner, crashing to end any hopes for a showdown. Ben Coisy, who was leading the championship series until the last round in Milan, joined Lawrence in the DNF circle on Lap 3 when his Honda died and wouldn't restart. Marvin Musquin won the Main Event the French went on to dominate the moto with American, Ryan Beat rounding out the top 5. Fabien Izoird went on to become the new UEM Supercross SX1 Champion.
Returning to the U.S., what will be in store for Ryan Beat. Certainly, he's worthy of a ride on an SX Lites team. Beats consistency and history in SX , Arenacross and MX shows his determination and talent to be a West Coast Lites contender. Many of these American teams dump far too many dollars and resources into No-Show riders or those with a checkered past. Bet your bottom dollar we'll see more of Josh Hansen on the Hart & Huntington team, and it's sad. In my opinion he is a kid who inherited a pro card and doesn't want it. His father, Donnie Hansen was a motocross legend, but does this mean his kid get's a life long AMA/MX Industry meal ticket? Apparently.
Carey Hart would have better success with a rider that doesn't pull off the track at mid moto. Investing in a rider like Beat would be smart move. With a good bike and unlimited practice track time, his possibilities are endless.

I have a Ryan Beat Photo from the SX, but we can't upload here on our blogs.

  • Must read information about motocross.com

Here is how it's going to go. This Blog section is now a bigot free zone. I know some of you claim to require this crap talk as part of your heritage. If this is true, your type is not welcome. We can discuss or disagree topics of motocross, crazy dogs, teenage girl meltdowns or anything that you'd like to air to the MX world. It must be done without disrespecting someone's, race, family or lifestyle, period. It's not censorship, it's common respect and you agreed to it when you started your account.
MX Freak has taken an awesome step in a recent blog to make things right and others need to follow his lead.
GYGDFRT (Christopher) you are one funny kid and I'm stoked that you are here. I'm looking forward to having you meet up with my crew and I at our track (the one you and I like to ride) and work with you on your riding techniques. You have to promise me though, that you'll settle down with the profanity. If something happens or somebody makes a dicked up comment, don't jump to quickly and get defensive in a bad way. This doesn't mean I don't want you to respond or write a crazy story about your dog or your crush on Dads friends daughter, I do believe me. It was nice to laugh yesterday after I read your post. Let's not pour gas on the fire, though.
Everyone, if something is really bothering you about a blog posted or if someone seems to be bullying you, send a message to Chris Worden.
http://motocross.com/users/profile/33502.html He is the editor here at motocross.com and should know if something potentially harmful is going on here. He's a cool guy and I don't think he would judge you. I still coast through user blogs at times and if there is a time when I snap at you, it probably means that your ignorance was noticed. But in most cases my sarcasm will be all in good humor and never meant to belittle. Well, sometimes.

So speak from your heart and enjoy blogging and try something I do before responding to a new blogger.

Scroll your pointer over the name of the blogger and double click. This will lead you to the users profile. Many times it tells about the person and even most important, their age. Would you think twice about a damaging comment if you knew that it was headed for a kid who is 14 years old? What would it prove? A good citizen would encourage them to write more.

  • James Stewart will wear ugly gear in 2009/ FOX out

Let's keep it short and to the facts. James Stewart wanted to earn the same pay for riding half the time. When Stewart went to resign with Fox for the upcoming year, Fox informed Stewart that they were committed to full time riders, not supercross only.

Now, Stewart has signed a pants and shirt deal with Answer Racing. Ironically, the substandard clothing line is currently being worn by Ryan Dungey, James Stewart's Kato Kaelin. Sorry if you're too young to remember or have forgotten who Kato Kaelin is, google it. Hint... he was O.J. Simpsons house guest.

Thank god Fox is sticking up for the sport. SX only deals are robbing privateers of a decent livelihood.

As a request to all consumers of MX apparel. If you want this sport to flourish, boycott all gear worn by SX only riders or racers who demand huge paychecks for wearing gear. When James Stewart milks, millions of dollars a year out of a company like Fox or Answer, it hurts the sport. Each company allocates a specific dollar amount into Advertising/Sponsorships. When Stewart Demands ridiculous Multi million dollar deals - many other racers do without.

I'm not worried that many people are going to sport the dreadful Answer gear in 2009. I believe that it will make the typically elegant Stewart look as if he's from some low income housing. So remember consumers , Friends don't let Friends wear tacky gear.

  • 2008 New England Regional Championship -Bombshell results

I'm sure this race will never see the light of day, but by all means it tells the direction that the professional motocross world will be headed. This 3 day weekend from Winchester, New Hampshire has a few new riders with a pro card in their hands.
Recently out of the B Class was New England wiz kid, Jimmy Decotis. Decotis did well for his first time as an MX Lites Pro/Expert rider going 3 - 3 - 4 to take a third overall. Second in the Lites class was New England Legend, John Dowd. Dowd went with straight seconds in the Lites behind the next big thing since Villipoto, Justin Barcia. If there was ever any doubt about whether Red Bull Honda was wasting money routing this kid out of NY, he clarified his worth this weekend. Check his stats as a new Pro riding the Lites Class.
Justin Barcia- Lites Moto 1 - beat Dowd by 46 seconds, Lites Moto 2 - 9 seconds over Dowd and Lites Moto 3 - had him beat by 19 seconds. No its not beginners luck, this kid will dominate. He rode the 3 MX 450 class motos and DNF'ed 2 after leading the motos and won the other. Barcia by far had the best lap time of everyone all weekend with a 1:39:02. Next was Dowd with a 1:42:89 and then Keith Johnson with a 1:44.287
The MX 450 Pro/Expert Class was indeed won by Dowd who was followed by Keith Johnson.
North Carolina native, Cooper Webb won the 85cc A class. Thank god, his parents traveled a long way for him not to win. Even though Webb won the overall, Luke Renzland won motos 1 and 3. Troubles in moto 2 had Renzland back in 11th by the time he saw the checkered flag.
AJ Catanzero, who placed first in the Lites -B class was the same rider who rode the Loretta Lynn Lites - B modified this year to a 2nd overall and Lites - B stock to a 3rd overall. In motos 1 and 2 Nick Desiderio from New Jersey nailed a second but a 6th place in moto 3 kept him at a 4th overall. Matthew Fisk from Mass. took the honors of 2nd.
So what does this say about the AMA MX/SX future?
    1. Barcia will be deadly and someone that the Lites class will fear. He may be young but he got a brutal old school way about him. I've watched this kid snot on the 250f class with a simple CR125. A 2-stroke advocate so to speak. Good kid right, but I think Honda will address that little issue since they don't sell smokers any longer.
    2. This has been a great year for AJ Catanzero, and next year will be better. Best bet, the one after that will be even better. At any point Catanzero could change his name to Consistant. Sure, Barcia wins a ton of motos, but he's prone to injury. Most "Stewart" type dominators are, but Catanzero picks up these important championships like KROC, NE Regionals, 2nd and 3rd in the Lites B class at LL. You never read about him getting AMA suspended or blowing an opportunity to scoop a podium. He's a smart rider who will probably be in the B-Class for another year, but his pro career will be here in no time. This will be the guy to watch, mark my words.
    3. Nick Desiderio wins motos and has for a long time. He's backed by factory Suzuki and trains at MTF all year long. I actually feel bad for Desiderio, though. From the person that I've met, he a cool kid. Nick comes from a very supportive family who puts 100% into his career as a racer. For some time now the AMA seems to have Desiderio on their crap list. He had a lengthy suspension last year and I hope that the AMA can let it pass. I know that some people see this kid as another J-Law, but he isn't. True they come from the same neck of the woods, but Desiderio is far from the outcast Lawrence has become.
    4. At last, when all these young hopefuls get to the premiere MX Class, one thing is for sure. They will be hounded by a Junkyard Dog. Dowd has been blessed with eternal youth and will continue to be a nuisance to any young hot shot that makes their way to the Northeast.
