Answering the question, ' What is The Grain Collective?' may seem like a relatively simple task at first. The Grain Collective is a company whose aim is to instill a sense of sustainability and environmental responsibility in all that we do. But in reality, The Grain Collective is much, much more. We're your favorite t-shirt, your Friday night, your giving-back, your new living space. We're your connection to good people, to regaining harmony with nature, to doing your part in Helping Other People Everywhere. We're the abstract idea of "going green" turned into reality for our generation. We're your voice, your adrenaline rush. We're your lifestyle.
The Grain Collective was founded in 2007 by Chris Jensen, co-founder of the eco-friendly Arbor Sports brand, and Nick Behunin, real estate development guru and co-founder of SurfParks. Nestled beneath the looming smokestacks, 1,100 miles of pipeline and 1000 acres of the Chevron Oil Refinery in El Segundo, California, The Grain Collective studio houses a small team of driven, creative-minded individuals working to reduce the footprint that man has indelibly made on nature for over a century.
Through our initial offering, a line of eco-friendly organic cotton and bamboo t-shirts, sweatshirts and accessories, The Grain has formed partnerships with Ben Harper, Lollapalooza and powerhouse brands Hurley and Quiksilver, to name a few. On the heels of this success, 2009 has brought the debut of The Grain Collective wholesale program, offering up its ultra-soft apparel products to the masses with the goal of replacing wasteful 100% virgin-cotton products with a more sustainable alternative, becoming the new standard for basic tees and hoodies.
