"I fail to see the "Sport" associated with such a barbaric act of killing this beautiful beast of the Oceans. Human beings, according to most medical data, house a superior brain to any living thing on this Earth, yet, everyday, we see this battle of man and animal played out, as if the animal had a hell of a chance to succeed...What I do not understand is what kind of pleasure do you get from killing this wonderful and majestic animal, even if it were a contest, what personal pleasure do you derive from ending its life...???...it belongs in the Ocean and yet, your so called, "superior" brain, told you to kill it, take it out of its environment & stand next to it for a photographic record of the violent event....Please, try and understand what we are trying to convey to you people, who take pleasure in ending a life of this and other living things, here on Earth...Let them live, as they are God's Creatures and He put them here for other reasons and not so that you could spend a day, wallowing in its blood & salt water, for yes, a photographic record of this barbaric event...Let the animals and other creatures live, if possible, for I see no benefit to mankind, or to the field of medicine or any other necessary event that would allow mankind to benefit from the death of this most Majestic Beast..."

  • A Tale Of Two Cities

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...Man I've always wanted to open with that, but just never really had the opportunity, but now, thanks to Etnies, I do. They recently unveiled their Tale of Two Cities mini-site where the skate shoe brand profiles a few of their European skaters.

And in case you don't know it's also the title of one of the greatest books of all time with, what many call, the best opening line in literature. It's all by a man named Charles Dickens. The whole opener goes as follows:

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

Is that not some of the most intriguing writing you've ever read? Doesn't it make you want to go out, pick up this book and see what all these contradictions are about? Well you should, it has been around for 151 years, and is still read today, so there's probably something to it. It's about the social parallels of society in Paris and London during the years leading up to the French Revolution; check it out. Literally, you don't have to buy it, there are these things called libraries.

Alright, so back to Etnies' A Tale of Two Cities. They've made two videos where they take a pair of their European riders, "who proudly represent the cities they call home," and profile them together in a video short.

The first duo was Willow hailing from Berlin, Germany and Joe Gavin from Manchester, England. In the second edition it's Tuukka Korhonen representing Helsinki, Finland and Julian Furones from Leon, Spain.

Click here to cruise over and check it out.
