My SportsSkateboarding Skill Level: Intermediate 10+ Years Experience Beginnings: I used to live on Hasbrouck Rd in New Paltz and my neighbor was this kid named Joe. I was in grade school and I think he was in Jr. High. Well, this kid used to skate, and I thought it was the coolest shit ever, so he let me use this banana board. Well, my parents supported my cause and got me a k-mart board, and then I got my first real board. It was a Shut Shark with Thunder Trucks and Spitfire Classic wheels. I know this because it still sits here next to all my other boards... Tricks: Big spin, 180 varial flip, finger flips. Strengths: Pop. Likes: Skateboarding is in itself an artform, there are so many ways to manipulate the board in and on top of so many mediums. Skiing Skill Level: Advanced 10+ Years Experience Beginnings: Whole family skis, started when I was four. Tricks: Mute (ironcross) Grab, 540's, slow 180's. Strengths: Creativity and speed. Likes: Skiing and snowboarding to me is absolute freedom. It's like...if you were out driving on the highway, and it's like four lanes wide, and you can do what ever you want if you just use good judgment. The difference between riding and a highway is, there are no speed limits or confining lines out on the hill. Snowboarding Beginnings: Natural progression, I was at the ski resort every winter, and I skateboarded all summer, so I joined the dark side and learned how to ride. Tricks: 360 stalefish, Japan straight air. Strengths: I rarely look like the BIGGEST idiot on the hill. Likes: I feel like I never experienced the true sensation of a carve until the day I started getting comfortable on a snowboard. The feeling of just that one whole plane loading up when you power in to a turn, and getting rocketed out on the backside of a carve is amazing. I still ski more than I board, but everyone knows snowboarders are just cooler. Mountain Biking Skill Level: Advanced 10+ Years Experience Beginnings: Riding with my friends and family. Tricks: Wheelies are cool... Strengths: Just drop it! Likes: Better on the knees than running, and lots more fun that road biking. Kind of like hiking with the ability to screw around on your bike.
