Dog ‘asks’ to go flying with hang glider

Shadow is a psychiatric service dog that helps Utah hang glider Dan McManus with his separation anxiety. The Australian cattle dog "earned" the name Shadow because it would follow McManus everywhere. It even wanted to follow him up into the air when he went hang gliding.

"He always liked to chase me," he told Fox 13 News in Utah. "So I would be out here flying, and he would chase me and jump up at me and sometimes get my foot and hang on a little bit."

So McManus made a special harness that would allow Shadow to go hang gliding with him, claiming it was the dog's idea. Fox 13 News has the story that has just started to garner some attention:

"He wanted to go along, and he didn't really like to see me up there by myself," McManus said. "He needs to keep me safe, so he needed to go flying with me to keep me safe."

And also to keep him company.
