Hail the size of golf balls rendered a mother helpless as her terrorized kids reacted to the massive hailstorm that cracked the windshield of their car and completely knocked out the back window.
Stephanie Vandewalker and her three young children were waiting in line to pick up an older child from school in Golden, Colorado, on Monday when huge hailstones began bombarding their car. The Daily Mail posted a story with video of the scary incident:
"Oh my God, make it stop," Vandewalker said.
Vandewalker probably felt like the hail would never end; certainly the three children—Jack, Ky and Nora—did.
"I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do," Vandewalker can be heard saying as the children cried.
Nora, the youngest with a binky in her mouth, screamed and cried and covered her ears to try to block out the sound of hail denting the car and crashing in the back window.
"We're going to be OK, don't worry," Vandewalker said. "You're OK, it's OK. It's OK, it's OK."
And a little while later, it was OK. The hail stopped. She later assessed the damage and looked closer at the golf ball-sized hail.
"I am shocked, I am completely shocked," Vandewalker said. "My whole window is busted out…There are busted out windows all over the place.
"It was very scary."
