“We are absolutely thrilled to host the world’s first GolfBoard-only golf tournament and have Laird Hamilton be part of this inaugural event,” Chis van der Velde, Managing Partner at Tetherow told PR Newswire.

Open to the public, the tournament and golf course are the first to incorporate GolfBoards as an alternative to golf carts, and players must have an active, verifiable USGA Handicap to compete this weekend. Festivities kick off with a meet and greet arrival party and speed golf exhibition using GolfBoards. On Saturday, morning and afternoon times are available and the weekend caps off with a cocktail hour and awards dinner ceremony.

The GolfBoard launched nearly two years ago via a Kickstarter campaign.

"A GolfBoard is a different way to get around a golf course compared to a traditional golf cart,” Tetherow states on their website. “GolfBoards add a new dimension of fun, action and excitement while improving speed of play, reducing turf wear and allowing golfers to surf in a way previously reserved for surfers and snowboarders.”
