Some people can't find the time to fit just one recreational sport into their daily lives. But not George Crezee, a soon-to-be 65-year-old who operates a motivational website called "Get Off the Couch and Go." The adventure sports enthusiast definitely showed how to get up and go.

In honor of his birthday on April 14, Crezee not only found time to do one or two recreational and adventure sports in a day, he did 61 within a 24-hour period.

"I want to motive people to get off the couch and go," George Crezee said. "I use this one day to show that if a 65-year-old guy can do this, certainly anyone can get off the couch and do something, even if it’s just walking the dog."

Crezee, who once participated in 26 sports within 24 hours to mark his 60th birthday, set out to do 40 sports in a day from Big Bear Lake to Newport Beach and other Southern California destinations between, but he did quite a few more.

He began at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning in the San Bernardino Mountains where he snowmobiled up a patch of snow at Snow Summit ski resort, followed by snowshoeing, slalom skiing, telemarking and cross-country skiing down the slope in the dark with a headlamp.

He finished 24 hours later swimming at a 24 Hour Fitness, and hit the pillow at 5 a.m. Thursday morning, having far exceeded his goal.

"He does all kinds of sports—all of ’em really well," John King, 72, a friend who ski races with Crezee, told the Riverside Press Enterprise. "No fear."

"I refuse to grow up," Crezee told the Press Enterprise.

Crezee and his team spent two days making arrangements and setting up the logistics for this unique feat. This was his tentative schedule of events that he wound up exceeding:

3:30 a.m. – 6:45 a.m.:  Snowmobile and snowshoe (to mid-mountain), climbing skis (to top), terrain park, telemark ski, skate ski, cross-country ski, snowboarding, giant slalom ski, slalom ski at Snow Summit Mountain Resort in Big Bear Lake.

1:00 a.m. – 3:30 a.m.: Cross fit, Zumba, basketball, swimming (free style, back stroke, breast stroke, and butterfly) at Redlands 24 Hour Fitness.

"If a 65-year-old can go out and do a pile of active-lifestyle events, then other people can at least start walking their dog around the block," Crezee told the Press Enterprise.

"There's really no reason to stay on the couch."

Unless, of course, you've just participated in 61 recreational and adventure sports in a 24-hour period.
