Luan Olveira Turns Pro

Luan Olveira is a technical magician on a skateboard. The Brazilian sensation has set the amateur contest circuit a blaze the past few years, he just won the Tampa Am for the second year in a row, and I personally witnessed him clean up at this past Volcom Damn Am Championships. Not to mention, he had a killer part in the most anticipated video release of last year, Flip's Extremely Sorry.

Now, to pay him back General Rowley and the rest of the brass at Flip have decided to turn him pro. And in typical skate fashion they had a little celebration at the Hooters in Long Beach, CA. Just in case you didn't see here's a little video of Luan at the Damn Am:

Street League's instant scoring allowed for the possibility of pressure-packed moments, but very few times did the skateboarders deliver

The 2012 Street League season kicked off in Kansas City this past weekend as it did last year-- with skateboard technician Nyjah Huston taking home $150,000. Huston's ability to land difficult and technical tricks consistently makes him almost unbeatable in the current Street League format.

"It was a hard one tonight, that's for sure!" said Nyjah. "I definitely had to work for it. I love the challenge, though, and to skate with these guys is great."
