Ed Templeton - As The Seconds Pass

By: Tom Morin

Last Friday night was the opening reception for pro skater, creator and all around artist extraordinaire, Ed Templeton, and his new showing, As The Seconds Pass in Culver City, CA. On the walls hung countless works of his photography; and his photography only, a total departure from his usual chaotic shows, that incorporate his paintings and models of creation - giant painted heads and what not. The walls were white, the floor was off-white and the lights were bright.

The usual suspects were there: art schoolers, scensters and hipsters with an appetite for free Pabst. Plus, pro skaters like Johnny Layton and Austin Stephens, who were technically at work, since Templeton owns their board sponsor, Toy Machine. Skate legend and Berrics warlord, Salman Agaha, was getting his mingle on, as well as Arto Saari. Of non-skate world fame, Doogie Howser was there, aka Neil Patrick Harris, or as the cool kids say "NPH."

Here's a few photos all taken by me, except one:

Mopeds and old people. Oh my!

Emerica took this, I felt too much like a paparazzo to take it.

Bikes, freeways, birds, cars, girls and bus stops. Or, what I like to call a Saturday.

Minglers.

What I want to know is, why isn't he making his next right?

Love can be for life.

Street League 2012: Nyjah Huston Wins Kansas City... Again

Street League's instant scoring allowed for the possibility of pressure-packed moments, but very few times did the skateboarders deliver

The 2012 Street League season kicked off in Kansas City this past weekend as it did last year-- with skateboard technician Nyjah Huston taking home $150,000. Huston's ability to land difficult and technical tricks consistently makes him almost unbeatable in the current Street League format.

"It was a hard one tonight, that's for sure!" said Nyjah. "I definitely had to work for it. I love the challenge, though, and to skate with these guys is great."
