When I first read the title of this video I thought, oh sh--t Marty died! Sorry, that was lame. Anyway, if you're too young to know, back in the year 1989, there was this movie, Weekend at Bernie's, it's about two guys who find out their boss, Bernie, is dead, and they think it's their fault. I forget the details, but something along the lines of they convince all his friends that Bernie is alive by propping him up like puppet, and apparently there's not one sharp tool in Marty's shed of friends, because no one thinks he is dead. In the end, I think they unravel some insurance fraud plot, or something, and believe it or not, there was a sequel.
That being said. In the year 2010 there is this skateboarder named Marty Murawski. He's one of the stars of the much awaited video, Make Friend's with the Colour Blue, by Blueprint skateboards, who released a teaser for the movie called, Make Friends with Marty, about the aforementioned skateboarder. It got a lot of internet love, and so did his part in the Blueprint movie. So, in walked DVS, they're like, "Your on the team." Marty's like, "Nice." To welcome him to the program they made a little video, and it's called Weekend At Marty's. There are no dead bodies being propped up, just Marty and his friends skating, hanging out with his dog, Frankenstein, and just giving you a little tour of Marty's hometown.
Street League's instant scoring allowed for the possibility of pressure-packed moments, but very few times did the skateboarders deliver
The 2012 Street League season kicked off in Kansas City this past weekend as it did last year-- with skateboard technician Nyjah Huston taking home $150,000. Huston's ability to land difficult and technical tricks consistently makes him almost unbeatable in the current Street League format.
"It was a hard one tonight, that's for sure!" said Nyjah. "I definitely had to work for it. I love the challenge, though, and to skate with these guys is great."
