Gatorade Free Flow Results

GRINDTV Newswire via Gatorade Burr Ridge, Ill. - June 28, 2010 - Tough competitions at Skatelab skate park in Simi Valley, Calif. and Woodward Denver in Denver, Colo. resulted in the top amateurs advancing to the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals taking place September 16-19 in Salt Lake City. From Skatelab comes Chase Webb, while Colorado natives Wyatt Milhollan, Phil Hansen and Trey Herrera will represent Woodward Denver in the finals.

Fifteen-year-old Webb of Murrieta, Calif. earned the skate park victory at Simi Valley after pulling tricks in the finals that had not been done all day. Utilizing the entire course, his final jam consisted of a switch 180 krook down the eight set rail, kickflip front board the same rail, switch frontside bigspin down the not-so Carlsbad gap.

"I'm so psyched to go back to the finals," Webb said. "It was so fun last year!"

This will be the fourth consecutive trip Webb makes to the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals, winning events in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

"Everything went awesome today," Skatelab's manager Todd Huber said. "We had a ton of rippers come out; it was a great turn out."

Woodward Denver held a full weekend's worth of contests, with skate park and vert on Saturday and BMX park on Sunday. Thirteen-year-old Milhollan of Littleton, Colo. earned the skate park victory after executing a highly technical run in the final, shredding the park with a 50-50 backside 180 out, crooked 360 flip on the bank, switch lipslide, and full cabs.

"I'm so psyched to go to the finals," Milhollan said. "The Gatorade Free Flow Tour is a great competition, and my competitors made this a serious contest."

In the skate vert contest, 13-year-old Hansen of Centennial, Colo. won a trip back to the finals with his clean execution of handplants and tricks like a fakie 360, big spin, and backside flip.

"I can't believe I won the vert contest," Hansen said. "I came out to skate the street contest and figured it'd be fun to do vert too; I'm glad I did since it got me a trip back to the finals in Salt Lake City!"

Hansen is a repeat finalist on the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, winning the Newnan, Ga. stop in 2009 for skate park. Milhollan is also a repeat winner, having won the Albuquerque, N.M. event in 2009.

In the BMX park competition, 21-year-old Herrera of Aurora, Colo. topped the podium, laying it all on the line and winning the contest with the highest amplitude of the day. His finals run impressed the judges with a tailwhip, opposite tailwhip, backflip, downside whip, no foot can can, and a lookback transfer on the quarterpipe to bank.

"This contest is a great opportunity," Herrera said. "I'm psyched I get to go to the finals and ride the Dew Tour course."

"It's great to have the Gatorade Free Flow Tour in town," said Woodward Denver manager, Mary Beth Andrews. "Kids are really psyched to have a professional style contest and gain valuable experience. It's great to see the locals taking the podium, and I'm excited to see how they do at the finals."

With the win, Webb, Milhollan, Hansen and Herrera earn an automatic bid into the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals that will take place at the Dew Tour's Toyota Challenge, September 16-19, 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah at EnergySolutions Arena.

Street League 2012: Nyjah Huston Wins Kansas City... Again

Street League's instant scoring allowed for the possibility of pressure-packed moments, but very few times did the skateboarders deliver

The 2012 Street League season kicked off in Kansas City this past weekend as it did last year-- with skateboard technician Nyjah Huston taking home $150,000. Huston's ability to land difficult and technical tricks consistently makes him almost unbeatable in the current Street League format.

"It was a hard one tonight, that's for sure!" said Nyjah. "I definitely had to work for it. I love the challenge, though, and to skate with these guys is great."
