Dawn Patrol At Burnside

By: Tom Morin

Surfers have been dawn patrolling for decades now. If you're not familiar with surf lingo, it means getting up super early to surf, pretty much the crack of dawn. Hence the name. Skateboarders on the other hand aren't as known for this practice. In fact, in the skate world a "noon patrol" is still kind of pushing it.

Although, if you want to score a spot like Burnside uncrowded, you may just want to steal a page out of your sea riding cousins and get your ass out of bed. That's just what Raven Tershy did, and as a result got to practice all sorts of different lines without having to worry about collisions.

Street League 2012: Nyjah Huston Wins Kansas City... Again

Street League's instant scoring allowed for the possibility of pressure-packed moments, but very few times did the skateboarders deliver

The 2012 Street League season kicked off in Kansas City this past weekend as it did last year-- with skateboard technician Nyjah Huston taking home $150,000. Huston's ability to land difficult and technical tricks consistently makes him almost unbeatable in the current Street League format.

"It was a hard one tonight, that's for sure!" said Nyjah. "I definitely had to work for it. I love the challenge, though, and to skate with these guys is great."
