The Goat In Costa Mesa

By: Tom Morin

Last night, I cruised over to Costa Mesa to check out the Goat play with IMa Robot at Detroit Bar. The place was packed because IMa Robot is like that guy in that children's story that plays the flute and all the rats follow him, replace the rats with scensters and that's what you had.

I had some issues getting in because of all the people, but it doesn't hurt to know some pro skaters who happen to play in the band opening for the headliner, so I was in. Reynolds, Shane aka The Goat, Kevin, Atiba and Beagle all showed up and fucking tore the place apart. They brought it home with my favorite Goat song, "Bitches in the Bathroom Doing Blow."

It was rad because while the Goat played all the rich kids playing dress up were at the bar, so there was enough room to get a pit going. Then, when IMa Robot went on, the costume party moved to the stage area, and we had the bar to ourselves.

There were a ton of girls, and a trail of wide-ons being left by some guy in a Skipper hat, aka me. Anyway, check out the photos below:

The Goat doing his thing.

Reynolds doing his thing.

Kevin aka Spanky doing his thing.

Atiba, who kind of looks like Kobe in this picture, you guessed it, doing his thing.

This was supposed to be a picture of my friend Shane aka The Goat and I, but I can't
do that thing where you hold the camera out and take a picture of yourself and someone
else, so instead it's just a close up of The Goat.

The pigs heard there was a Goat around.

Street League 2012: Nyjah Huston Wins Kansas City... Again

Street League's instant scoring allowed for the possibility of pressure-packed moments, but very few times did the skateboarders deliver

The 2012 Street League season kicked off in Kansas City this past weekend as it did last year-- with skateboard technician Nyjah Huston taking home $150,000. Huston's ability to land difficult and technical tricks consistently makes him almost unbeatable in the current Street League format.

"It was a hard one tonight, that's for sure!" said Nyjah. "I definitely had to work for it. I love the challenge, though, and to skate with these guys is great."
